New York City Workers’ Compensation Client Case Manager Mary Eustance

mary-eustance-bio

At O’Connor Law PLLC, workers’ compensation client case manager Mary Eustance reviews files for actions to be taken, is involved in some settlement negotiations, and handles a variety of administrative tasks. Her work mostly takes place behind the scenes, but you might speak with her when you call the firm’s office.

Mary has been a part of the O’Connor Law PLLC team since 2018. Mary and Mary Ellen O’Connor, the founder of O’Connor Law PLLC, have known each other for several years. In fact, Mary was the one who first hired Mary Ellen at Special Funds, where she worked as an attorney 15 years ago, and later as an independent outside attorney. Shortly after Special Funds closed in October 2018, Mary was hired by Mary Ellen to join the O’Connor Law PLLC team.

What Mary enjoys most about working at O’Connor Law PLLC is being able to help injured New York City workers access the benefits they need to provide for themselves and their families. Every day, she helps move cases towards closure so the firm’s clients can focus on healing from their injuries and moving forward with their lives.

Discovering a Passion for Workers’ Compensation

Mary attended Adelphi University in Garden City, NY, earning her bachelor’s degree in business and communication. She briefly contemplated becoming an attorney, but discovered that her talents were better suited to working behind the scenes to help those in need access their workers’ compensation benefits.

Mary has over 30 years of experience in the workers’ compensation field, having served as an examiner, supervisor, and claims manager. This has given her a detailed knowledge of all aspects of the claims process, as well as insight into some of the common mistakes workers make when trying to access their benefits. When Mary worked at Special Funds, she dealt with outside attorneys on a daily basis negotiating settlements. Additionally, she was responsible for hiring, training, and managing the attorneys within the organization.

Life Outside of Workers’ Comp

In her free time, Mary enjoys spending time with her family. Mary has one son, Christopher, and two grandsons, Owen and Connor. She also enjoys decorating, cooking, baking, and entertaining.

Mary loves to laugh and thinks humor is the solution to many of life’s problems. When you’re having a rough day, look to her to put a smile on your face.
