Have You Been Exposed?

First and foremost, your health is the most important thing to worry about at this time. If you believe you have been exposed to or contracted COVI​D-19, reach out to your county Health office. What About Work?

Are you wondering if you work for an essential employer? Here is a listing of New York State essential businesses. https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-cuomo-issues-guidance-essential-services-under-new-york-state-pause-executive-order

Is your company not listed as an essential business, but you believe your business is? You can seek a waiver by filling out this form. https://esd.ny.gov/content/request-designation-essential-business-purposes-executive-order-2026

Laid Off or Furloughed?

Have you been laid off and need to apply for unemployment benefits? The day you initially apply for benefits is based upon the first letter of your last nam​e. If your last name starts with A - F, file your claim on Monday. For last names beginning with G - N, file your claim on Tuesday. For last names starting with O - Z, file your claim on Wednesday. If you missed your filing day, file your claim on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Filing later in the week will not delay your payments or affect the date of your application since all claims are valid on the Monday of the week in which they are filed. You can apply by phone or online. You may be eligible for https://paidfamilyleave.ny.gov/covid19 In response to the outbreak of COVID-19 New York State, has guaranteed workers job protection and financial compensation in the event they, or their minor dependent child, are subject to an order of mandatory or precautionary quarantine or isolation issued by the state of New York, the Department of Health, the local board of health, or any government entity duly authorized to issue such order due to COVID-19.
